Converse County today boasts one of the largest pronghorn antelope herds in the nation. Mule and white tail deer, elk and bighorn sheep are also found in the county. Trout fishing is popular, not only along the North Platte, but in the many mountain streams. Located on the banks of the North Platte River, Douglas sits in the foothills of the Laramie Mountains and at the edge of the grasslands.
Douglas and the surrounding area offer plenty of opportunity to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with several public parks, jogging and bicycle paths, and outdoor tennis courts. |

There are two entry points to Douglas from Interstate 25. Exit 135 to the east and Exit 140 to the west. Business I-25 is a direct route through Douglas from one exit to the other. The route is clearly marked and the distance is the same as on the Interstate. Taking I-25 Business will let you experience Jackalope Square, The Douglas Railroad Interpretive Center, the Wyoming State Fairgrounds, downtown Douglas, and much more in just 5 miles. Douglas is also served by U.S. Highways 20-26 and by Wyoming Highways 59, 91, 93 and 94. Bus service is provided by Greyhound and Powder River Transportation as well as shuttle services for Senior Citizens. |

Commercial air service is available at the Natrona International Airport - 54 miles from Douglas. United Express, Skywest, Northwest Airlines, and Mountain Air Express provide daily departures with connections to Denver, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; Colorado Springs, CO., and Minneapolis, MN. Charter flights and rental cars are available at the Natrona International Airport. The Converse County General Aviation Airport, is located just 2 miles from downtown Douglas. 307-358-3924.
Burlington Northern and Union Pacific Railroads both have rail service in Converse County, however only freight service is available. Parcel and delivery service is available from: Air Borne Next Day, DHL, Federal Express, UPS and US Post Office.
